John has been practicing in the Grimsby and the surrounding community since 1997. He is a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he received undergraduate degrees in both Physical Education and Physiotherapy. He has also completed his training in Ambulance and Emergency Care and has since retired from the paramedic field. John is a long-time Professional Associate with McMaster University’s School of Physiotherapy and a past clinical instructor within the program. He continues to maintain his teaching affiliation with McMaster University by way of welcoming physiotherapy residents from McMaster to the clinic. As the Director of an accredited McMaster teaching facility, John has welcomed over 120 physiotherapy residents to the clinic over the past 20+ years.
John’s clinical focus is in the field of concussion and recovery. For the past 15+ years, much of his continuing education has revolved around staying up to date in the ever-changing field of concussion management. His post-graduate education in Concussion Recovery and Vestibular Rehabilitation has taken him to courses throughout Canada and the United States.
John currently serves as a concussion consultant for both the Flamborough Minor Hockey and Grimsby Minor Hockey Associations. He is a past recipient of the Flamborough Hockey Association’s Volunteer of the Year Award and holds his Level 3 Hockey Trainers Certificate. He is currently the team trainer for the Hamilton Kilty Bs U18 AAA Team. He is a past Ontario Hockey Federation’s (OHF) U15 Program of Excellence Team Trainer and was selected as the 2020 U-16 OHL Gold Cup Program of Excellence Trainer.
Away from the office, John can usually be found in a hockey rink somewhere in Southern or Eastern Ontario. He is the proud father of three boys and is married to the most understanding wife in the world. With two of their three boys still playing high level competitive hockey in the winter months, both he and his wife take advantage of the short summer season, enjoying the outdoors at the cottage, cooking an outdoor meal or playing a round of golf when possible.
